LION (Panthera leo)


Family: Felidae.

Gender: Panthera (5 species).

Description: Height in the cross 1 m. Weigh from 100 to 200 kg. It has a big head with ocher skin provided of black or blonde mane. Females are smaller  and  lack mane.

Habitat: Areas of arboreal savanna and desert places.

Gestation: 3 and a half months. From 2 to 3 breedings.

Longevity: 15 years (up to 24 in captivity).

Subspecies: 7.

Lion

For their vigor and their predator habits, the lion has been considered during centuries like the king of the animals. It hunts in the evening and feeds mainly of herbivore animals. It can reach a speed of 80 km per hour.
